In 2020 UEBT shared ‘The Big Shift’ offering 10 lessons learned over 10 years by companies promoting positive impact for biodiversity and people. In June of 2021, 55 companies working with UEBT stepped forward to show their shared commitments as part of the ‘Action Agenda for Nature and People’. Now is the opportunity to follow through on commitments made to protect people and biodiversity. We must make sure our actions meet our ambitions through rapid implementation, investment, transparency and accountability.
In the run-up to the UN Biodiversity Summit – the COP15, UEBT and its members will be presenting the ambitious actions of companies towards biodiversity, with an interactive lightning panel discussion among leaders on how to make sure these actions truly are working to ‘bend the curve’ of nature loss by slowing down or halting biodiversity loss and then restoring nature through smart nature-based solutions. The event is meant to inspire, engage and rally the business sector’s voices in the lead up to the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.
