Food for Biodiversity and the Biodiversity in Good Company Initiative announce a further step in their strategic partnership: Since the beginning of 2024, companies in the food industry have been able to apply for dual membership of 'Food for Biodiversity' and the 'Biodiversity in Good Company' initiative. The two organizations in Germany and Europe are committed to making economic activity more biodiversity-friendly and thus protecting biodiversity. Joint activities and mutual support have already been practiced for some time. The expanded cooperation is intended to promote this collaboration and the commitment of members and at the same time make participation in both organizations more accessible.
"I am delighted that bridges have been built here and that cooperation between the two organizations is being intensified," says Peter Zens, Chairman of 'Food for Biodiversity' and board member of the 'Biodiversity in Good Company' initiative. "Together, we have already been able to launch effective programs and activities that have a positive impact on the environment and raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity."

Joint commitment to biodiversity

'Food for Biodiversity' was founded exactly three years ago, on World Biodiversity Day 2021, with the aim of promoting sustainable food systems and thus preserving biodiversity. The 'Biodiversity in Good Company' initiative, a cross-industry corporate network, has been advocating for the protection of biodiversity since 2008 and is a founding member of 'Food for Biodiversity'.

Species extinction is one of the greatest challenges of our time

Alongside climate change, the loss of biodiversity is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. The food industry depends on intact ecosystems and their services more than almost any other sector.
The 'Food for Biodiversity' industry initiative is committed to protecting biodiversity and contributing to the transformation of current food systems into sustainable and future-proof systems.
systems. The association currently has 30 members from various areas of the food sector: Companies in the food sector, environmental associations, standard organizations, scientific organizations and supporting members.
The activities of the cross-industry business network 'Biodiversity in Good Company' are aimed at building up biodiversity-specific expertise within companies and promoting exchange with experts. The initiative also aims to achieve greater relevance for a sustainable economy in dialog with politics and science.
