TNFD Sector guidances – open for consultation

The TNFD framework presents three core components: the outline of fundamental concepts and definitions to receive an understanding of nature itself, guidance for corporates and financial institutions as well as the TNDF’s recommended disclosures for nature-related issues.
Additional Guidance by sector is open for consultation until 29 March 2024.

The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) is a global, market-driven, science-based and government-backed initiative that addresses the need to incorporate nature into financial and business decisions.

The aim of TNFD is to provide decision-makers in business and capital markets with better quality information through corporate reports on nature that improve risk management in companies and portfolios. Reliable information enables companies to incorporate nature-related risks and opportunities into their strategic planning, risk management and asset allocation decisions. Better information in the hands of investors and other capital providers can help steer the global flow of capital towards more positive outcomes for nature and society.

The two-year phase of designing and developing a framework that provides market participants with a risk management and disclosure framework that enables them to identify, assess, respond to and, where appropriate, disclose their nature-related concerns was completed last year. Since then, the guidelines have been continuously supplemented and further developed.

Among others, additional guidelines for the sectors Food and Agriculture, Forestry and Paper, Financial Institutions and others are open for consultation.

Further information can be found on the TNFD website.
