New guide and tool about Natural Capital in the Hotel and Restaurant Industry

Global Nature Fund (GNF) has published the new guide "Natural Capital in the Hotel and Restaurant Industry".

Natural capital valuations are becoming increasingly important worldwide. The method can help companies to identify dependencies and effects on and from natural capital. In an international comparison, German companies are still rather reserved on this topic. The corresponding project of the Global Nature Fund is primarily aimed at companies in the gastronomy and hotel industry, their associations and interest representatives, but also at stakeholders in the hospitality industry: Last but not least, consumers - i.e. hotel and restaurant guests - are targeted, who can make informed purchasing decisions based on reliable information about the sustainability of a product or service.

"Natural Capital in the Hotel and Hospitality Industry" is a project supported by the Federal Ministry of the Environment and the Federal Environmental Agency, in the framework of which GNF has been analysing environmental costs since 2018 and making them applicable for companies. The GNF provides interested parties with the 20-page document, but also an environmental cost calculator for the practical application of the knowledge gained from the guidelines. Interested parties can contact GNF to learn more about the calculation of environmental costs and the possibilities they offer for business success in times of climate change and a dramatic decline of species.
