SAN, GNF and FGN join forces to promote biodiversity restoration and conservation in the agri-food sector

As part of the celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity on May 22, the Sustainable Agriculture Network, the Global Nature Fund (GNF) and Fundación Global Nature (FGN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the aim of joining forces to promote biodiversity restoration and conservation in the agri-food sector.

The 2019 Theme of the International Day for Biological Diversity was "Our Biodiversity, Our Food, Our Health,"  which is fully aligned with the mission of the three organizations: contributing to achieve a balanced world in which food production is sustainable, both from the point of view environmental as social.

SAN, GNF and FGN have long-term experiences in promoting biodiversity restoration and conservation in the agri-food sector and have robust networks of experts and partner organizations promoting biodiversity among farmers. GNF and FGN with a stronger focus on Europe while SAN is mainly engaged in tropical and subtropical countries.
The three organizations know that working together is the best way to accelerate the positive changes that the world needs, especially in terms of biodiversity conservation. That is why they have decided to join forces and share their experiences and learnings in developing approaches and tools which support biodiversity management at farm level.

Each organization maintain strong relations with the private sector supporting those in integration biodiversity aspects in their operations, and now, together will create synergies by strengthening the collaboration between the networks and by integrating approaches and tools on biodiversity management in order to improve and expand their services.

The MoU aims also to catalyse further development of approaches and tools on biodiversity management and to support joint proposals/tender offers and acquisition of funds from public donors and the private sector for projects and activities to improve the biodiversity performance of the agricultural and food sector.
