Matthias Beyer

Matthias Beyer is founder and managing partner of mas|contour, an internationally acting firm operating in the field of sustainable tourism consulting, regional development and change management.

He is a fully qualified graduate of the hotel business and graduate engineer in landscape planning (with focus on sustainable tourism planning). After his studies he worked for several years as a freelance consultant in national and international tourism projects. In 2005 he founded the Berlin based consulting firm mas|contour Tourism Consulting & Regional Planning (www.mascontour.info) which is specialised in sustainable tourism development and has already successfully implemented about 70 projects in more than 30 countries.

Sustainable tourism development at destination and enterprise level (consulting, planning, marketing and management);
Tourism as instrument for poverty alleviation;
Community based tourism;
Tourism in protected areas;
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR);
Analysis of value chains, evaluation and monitoring.

Besides publishing professional articles on sustainable tourism, Matthias Beyer regularly works as a lecturer at Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development and University of Applied Science Bremen.
He is a member of BEST Education Network, of the academic advisory board of Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND e.V.) – German branch of Friends of the Earth – as well as of further organizations.
