Japan Ecolodge Association

Masaru is an ecotourism and community-based tourism consultant with international working experience. For the biodiversity related project, his travel company was opted to partner with the International Youth Forum 2010 Go4BioDiv (http://go4biodiv.org/) organized by CBD and UNESCO with supports from GTZ, IUCN and others.

He founded a first ecolodge association in the world, Japan Ecolodge Association, to promote the concept of ecotourism and ecolodge uniting responsible tourism and energy conservation in Japan and many other parts of the world. In 2008, he then has started a travel agency, Spirit of Japan Travel’ to make sure the economic leakages are kept to a minimum to celebrate the communities that collaborate with his community-based sustainable tourism projects and link tourism with conservation.
