Business and Biodiversity initiatives are being developed in many parts of the world and initiated by different actors, be they non-business organizations or from businesses and business associations themselves.

Global Initiatives
‘Biodiversity in Good Company’ Initiative
The internationally focused German B&B initiative "Biodiversity in Good Company” was launched during the 9th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
UN Global Compact
The UN Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
UNEP FI
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has established a Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) in partnership with the global financial services sector.
Biodiversity Neutral Initiative (BNI)
Biodiversity Neutral Initiative (BNI) helps companies assess biodiversity impacts, implement best practices with respect to the biodiversity mitigation hierarchy and then offset net residual damage to become biodiversity neutral.
Natural Value Initiative (NVI)
Natural Value Initiative (NVI) works with the finance sector to create and test a toolkit for evaluating financial risk and opportunity arising from companies’ dependence and impact on biodiversity and ecosystem services.
LIFE Institute
LIFE Institute is responsible for managing LIFE Certification which qualifies and recognizes public and private organizations who promote biodiversity conservation and sustainable development initiatives.

The Global Compact Network Germany
The Global Compact Network Germany is an active learning and dialogue platform for the implementation of the ten Global Compact principles. Biodiversity is one of the priorty issues of the network in Germany in 2010.

The UN Global Compact UK
The UK Network aims to further the UN Global Compact's 10 principles that cover human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.
The Portuguese Business and Biodiversity Initiative
The Portugese Business and Biodiversity Initiative seeks to promote, through voluntary agreements of long duration, a common ground for collaboration between these two distinct systems: business and biodiversity, which promotes the introduction of biodiversity strategies and policies of companies.
The project is supported through LIFE, a programme of the European Union.
