The Global Nature Fund (GNF) and dokeo created a biodiversity check based on the Corporate Biodiversity Management Handbook, a guide for operational practice from the Business and Biodiversity Initiative ‘Biodiversity in Good Company'.
The loss of biological diversity ranks alongside climate change as one of the most pressing challenges of our time.
For this reason, the United Nations declared 2010 to be the Year of Biodiversity. Businesses in particular are called upon to incorporate the protection of biodiversity into their management strategies. Similar to the CO2 footprint, almost every company leaves its mark on biological diversity in some way.
These marks can be traced back to many different corporate operations including procurement, production, logistics and marketing.
Any companies involved in environmental issues, CSR and sustainability can participate.
Activities for the protection of biodiversity are not required.
Rather, based on the check results, companies will be able to assess how relevant biodiversity is for their business and see if and how well they are prepared.
The results of the biodiversity check are confidential. There is no obligation on the part of the company to take further action. Participants are allowed to publicise their participation in the biodiversity check in conjunction with the "European Business & Biodiversity Campaign”.
The first round of biodiversity checks has already begun. Only a limited number can participate. If you are interested, please contact dokeo by phone +49-(0)711 220 8640 or email biodiversity@dokeo.de.
