Biodiversity & Tourism, new opportunities for businesses and destinations?

The French Ministry in charge of tourism publishes a guide on "Biodiversity and Tourism, new opportunitiesfor businesses and destinations? ".This tool aims at mobilizing all stakeholders in the tourism sector around the issuesof preservation of biodiversity and at disseminating good practices that maycontribute to this.

13/10/11 - The arguments and perspectives it describes show that it is possible toimprove the competitiveness of tourist destinations while better integratingbiodiversity to the tourism activities. To achieve this, the guide lists the methods, tools andresources available to help professionals and managers to undertakeconcrete actions.

All tourism stakeholders have been involved in this publication: Regional and sub-regional tourism Committees, tourism boards and also hotels, restaurants,tour operators, providers ...

This guide is one of the tools to decline the National Strategy forBiodiversity 2011-2020, which aims at fundamentally changing our relationship withnature, suggesting new ways of development. The Minister in charge of tourism has been dedicated to translate these orientations into concrete reality and everyday life of businesses and tourism destinations.
