Pricing the earth: how business can protect and profit from biodiversity

Friends of Europe's 2010 Green Week summit, Pricing the Earth: How Business can protect and profit from biodiversity, shone a light on a subject that has so far gained little attention from policymakers, business and consumers.

However, as the summit illustrated, biodiversity is likely to become as big an issue as climate change in the years to come. It encompasses virtually every area of human activity, from land use to air quality to exploitation of the oceans. The problem, as many speakers including UNEP's Pavan Sukhdev made clear, is that mankind is using biodiversity in an unsustainable manner.

Report on the European Policy Summit organised by Friends of Europe in partnership with Microsoft and with the support of Coca-Cola Europe, the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association (UNICA) and the Alliance for Beverage Cartons & the Environment (ACE).
