Financing the Common Agricultural Policy

For the last 50 years the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) has been the European Union's (EU) most important common policy. This explains why traditionally it has taken a large part of the EU's budget, although the percentage has steadily declined over recent years.

The European Union's farm policy ensures a decent standard of living for farmers, at the same time as setting requirements for animal health and welfare, environmental protection and food safety. Sustainable rural development completes the picture of the EU's common agricultural policy (CAP).

Helping farmers with income support and market measures, the common agricultural policy (CAP) also ensures sustainable rural development according to the specific needs in each EU country.

To achieve this goal, the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development support projects with an annual budget of €59 billion.

The EU currently have 44 calls in the agriculture field in the EU Funding Profile database. To have access to the full list, please create your EU Funding Profile.
